Minnie Collective ft. Amelia Evans

Minnie Hill presents an afternoon of music dedicated to jazz legends Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and Dave Brubeck with Minnie’s 9-piece band the ‘Minnie Collective’.

The afternoon will feature music from the iconic album ‘Ella & Basie’, which was originally recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra, as well as arrangements from Minnie’s debut big band album ‘The Remarkable Dave Brubeck’, which was released in July 2021.

Minnie is thrilled to be presenting this concert of swinging and toe-tapping music alongside vocalist Amelia Evans after regularly performing together at the Paris Cat Jazz Club.

Minnie Hill is an award-winning composer, arranger and saxophonist. Minnie’s “virtuosic knowledge of the richest sounds possible in the saxophone and trombone sections” (The Australian) makes her one of Melbourne’s most exciting up and coming arrangers/composers.

2021 saw Minnie release her debut big band album, ‘The Remarkable Dave Brubeck’ to great acclaim. This album features many of Melbourne’s top jazz musicians, with a guest appearance from Grammy-nominated trombonist Marshall Gilkes on her composition ‘Remarkable’. ‘The Remarkable Dave Brubeck’ was featured as ‘Album Of The Week’ on ABC Jazz in July 2021, while the band was shortlisted in the 2021 ‘Music Victoria Awards’ under the category ‘Best Jazz Act’.
